The City’s Solid Waste Division collects solid waste from approximately 11,800 residential accounts. The City provides service to residents within the City’s incorporated limits. Currently, the City collects residential waste once per week using 90-gallon Roll Carts serviced by automated side-loader trucks. The City also provides bulk material and yard waste collection on the same day as garbage using rear-loader trucks. The City has 41 households receiving backdoor service for medical or hardship reasons. In addition, approximately 80 residents are serviced on historic roads and in hard-to-service areas due to limited vehicle access.

The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) is soliciting sealed bids for the Microplastics Collection System Phase 2 Project at the City Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Atlantic City, NJ. The project involves the removal of existing Phase 1 fabrications and the installation of two Poly Pod assemblies along with associated mechanical and electrical connections. This construction procurement includes a non-mandatory pre-proposal site meeting and requires all bids to be submitted by July 1, 2026.

Seeking proposals from yard waste collection operators for the acceptance and disposal of bagged or loose landscape waste. Landscape waste is defined as any organic waste that can be mulched or composted specific to grass clippings or leaves, shrub and yard clippings, pruning, bark, weeds, and small twigs. The initial term of this contract to collect yard waste from the City shall be for an initial term of one (1) year commencing September 1, 2026 and ending August 31, 2027 with an option to renew through August 31, 2028.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) issued Special Notice 140G0126Q0139 seeking a contractor to operate the wet atmospheric monitoring station designated site LA30 as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NTN). The scope includes weekly site visits to collect, process, and ship precipitation samples, transmit associated data and maintain/repair instruments; the period of performance is anticipated to be 12 months from award with four 12-month option periods.
