The Waterville School District's strategic goals focus on four key areas. These include increasing student learning and performance by enhancing instructional practices and professional development, developing high-functioning board and school leadership teams, ensuring a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment, and maintaining fiscal responsibility and stability. The overarching mission is to ensure high levels of learning for all students.

It is built upon core beliefs that all children possess genius, a strong basic education is a moral imperative, diversity enriches community, and an equitable, inclusive learning environment is essential. The plan aims to develop students who embody trust, honor, respect, integrity, and valor, fostering their growth and achievement in personal leadership, academic subjects, arts, technology, civic involvement, critical thinking, physical fitness, and college and career readiness skills.

The goals for the 2025-26 school year focus on increasing student learning and performance through classroom-based assessments and state assessments. Additionally, the plan aims to improve the school culture, known as "We are Waterville", through a commitment to the Leader in Me program and surveys. The district will also maintain fiscal responsibility and stability while supporting students and staff.

The board meeting included the approval of the consent agenda (minutes, accounts payable, payroll, donations, new hires, fundraisers, and surplus items), review of the operating protocol, and public comments. Reports were given on student representatives, athletics, special education, finances, superintendent updates, and legislative matters. New business included the first reading of several policies: Policy 3205 (Sexual Harassment of Students Prohibited), Policy 3226 (Interviews and Interrogations of Students on School Premises), Policy 4300 (Limiting Immigration Enforcement in Schools), Policy 4310 (District Relationships with Law Enforcement and other Government Agencies), Policy 4311 (School Safety and Security Services Program), and Policy 5011 (Sexual Harassment of District Staff Prohibited).
