Village of Boonville

The board discussed updates from the fire department regarding injured firefighters and the need for new SCBA tanks. Legal correspondence regarding groundwater monitoring wells was referred to the village attorney. The board approved requests for a St. Patrick's Day parade, the donation of a bike repair station for a local park, and decorations for Autism Awareness. Additionally, the board hired a new Motor Equipment Operator trainee, authorized the purchase of a work cell phone for the Working Supervisor, and decided not to proceed with a proposed Sanitary Sewer Inflow and Infiltration study at this time.

The board conducted public hearings regarding the proposed village budget and a sewer rate increase. Key business included the discussion of an anonymous letter regarding loose dogs, a request to utilize village canoes for a school physical education unit, and the review of payment applications for the WWTP Capital Project. The board passed a resolution to discontinue school traffic officer services effective June 30, 2026. Department reports were provided for the police, street, sewer, wastewater treatment plant, fire, and zoning departments. The board finalized the approval of the 2026-27 village budget and the sewer rate increase, discussed an employee work status in executive session, approved the hiring of a new full-time laborer, and authorized the payment of various bills and payroll.

The board discussed correspondence regarding insurance rate increases for the 2026-27 policy term. Approval was granted for the utilization of Little Village Park for the 2026 Porchfest event. The board also approved the Chamber of Commerce event schedule for 2026. A pay increase was authorized for two employees following the successful completion of their probationary periods. Additionally, the board approved the purchase of a work cell phone for the Working Supervisor and authorized payments for the General Fund and WWTP Fund.

The Board of Trustees meeting covered several administrative and community requests. The Board approved acting as a fiscal sponsor for the Boonville Concert Band and the Boonville Search & Rescue for 2026 grant applications. A pay increase was approved for a staff member who passed a CDL driving test. Permissions were granted for a 4th of July parade and the use of volunteer workers from Upstate Cerebral Palsy for grounds maintenance at Erwin Park, both contingent upon insurance requirements. Additionally, the Board reviewed and approved the March treasurer's report and authorized a dunk tank for a Pop Warner football fundraiser at Erwin Park. Finally, the Board approved the payment of bills for the General Fund and WWTP Fund and processed payroll.

The board discussed reports from the grants department, including payment applications for the wastewater treatment plant capital project, and acknowledged the award of a Pro-Housing Technical Assistance Grant. Updates were provided by the police department regarding call volume, warrant resolution, and equipment upgrades, as well as by the streets and sewers department regarding ongoing maintenance and personnel training. The fire department reported on calls for service and a pending grant application for facility improvements. A resolution was passed urging the state to increase municipal aid. Additionally, the board approved an invoice for Barton & Loguidice and, during an executive session, authorized a mileage stipend for the working supervisor. Finally, the board approved various bills and payroll for multiple funds.
