Town of Hermon

The board conducted elections for the positions of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. Public hearings were held regarding a subdivision amendment and plan approval for a new office building and fabrication shop for ABM Mechanical Inc. Both projects were subsequently approved by the board under new business items. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer provided a code report for June and July and discussed an update to the ADU Ordinance.

The Planning Board conducted public hearings and granted site plan approvals for several projects, including a commercial facility on Hammond Street, a medical clinic on Liberty Drive, and a commercial kennel on Swan Road. A request for a medical clinic on Route 2 was withdrawn by the applicant and subsequently tabled. Additionally, the Board reviewed code enforcement reports for October and November.

The meeting focused on the site plan approval for a home occupation project, which was successfully granted. Additionally, the Board conducted workshops regarding the ADU ordinance and training on the Freedom of Access Act. The Code Enforcement Officer also presented a code report covering the period from December through April.

The council recognized the Town Manager for earning the Certified Maine Municipal Manager designation and an Appraisal Tech for achieving the Certified Maine Assessor certification. Public hearings were held regarding a dangerous building designation for 2038 Park Drive and an ADU moratorium extension. The council conducted business including the appointment of election clerks, awarding contracts for roadside mowing and winter sand, accepting a housing development grant, and abating uncollectible personal property taxes. The agenda also included workshops on the school budget, tax-acquired properties, the transfer station, and the general town budget, as well as updates on USAC/ERATE funding for the school district and tax collection efforts.

The council conducted a public hearing regarding a dangerous building at 10 Finch Lane and subsequently voted to deem the property a dangerous building. Other business included awarding contracts for winter snow removal, sidewalk snow removal, street and parking lot sweeping, and catch basin cleaning services. The council approved a labor agreement with the local fire department and scheduled upcoming municipal, school, and state elections. Additionally, the council entered into agreements for the Route 2 Pump Station Replacement Design Project and the Logistics Lane Sewer Project. Workshops were held regarding the draft school and municipal budgets for the upcoming fiscal year. A recognition was presented to the Town Clerk for receiving a professional designation.
