Board meetings and strategic plans from City of Tieton
The council discussed the purchase of a 2001 International 4900 Dump Truck, and the re-upholstering of the seat in the green public works truck. The Economic Development Committee received a grant to assist with the Basketball Court Project. The police department was recognized for collecting donations for the K-9 Unit Project. The 2014 Annual Report was completed. There was a discussion regarding jake brake signage and ordinance. The city would be looking at getting funding to redo Pongala Rd. The city did not get the health clinic funding. The 2015 Tieton Police Bike Rodeo would be on Saturday, June 13th. Flag Day would be held on Sunday, June 14th, at the City Square Park.
The City Council meeting included the approval of the agenda and consent agenda items, such as the minutes of the previous meeting and various A/P and payroll claim checks. The meeting also involved committee reports, including an announcement about the Highland Community Days Committee Meeting. Additionally, the Clerk/Treasurer submitted the November 2014 Treasurer's Report and announced an upcoming AWC RMSA Public Officials Principles class.
The meeting included discussions and actions on several key items. A resolution was presented to declare certain items as surplus and authorize their sale or destruction. A presentation was given on the Tieton Mosaic Project for city signage. An ordinance was discussed regarding a Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map amendment and a rezone request. The meeting addressed the city's compliance with the State Department of Health regarding the water system, which led to the approval of a contract with Independent Water Service, Inc. The council also reviewed, accepted, and approved the bid/contractor recommendation from Huibregtse, Louman Associates, Inc. for the downtown Sidewalk Project, with Granite Construction as the contractor. The Highland Community Days event was discussed, and the City's 2014 Annual Report was mentioned as being in progress. Concerns were raised about the illegal use of 4-wheelers within city limits and damage to a resident's fence. The Summitview Road Project Phase 2 was announced to begin on May 18th and conclude around the end of July 2015, including alterations to driveway entrances for Evan's Warehouse and the addition of a concrete curb for safety.
