Columbia River Bridge Replacement (Request for Qualifications) *Re-bid*
The project requires design, permitting and construction of two new multimodal fixed-span bridges and approaches for the northbound and southbound travelers across the Columbia River on Interstate 5 (I-5). The Columbia River Bridge replacement project, located in Vancouver, Wash., and Portland, Ore., is part of the IBR Program, which will complete new multi-modal Columbia River Bridges carrying I-5 over the Columbia River in the northbound and southbound directions. The new bridges will include inside shoulders for bus on shoulder, width for future light rail transit, and also width for bicycle and pedestrian shared use path including touchdown connections. The project includes the Oregon approach with a full Hayden island interchange and ties to existing I-5 at the north end of the North Portland Harbor bridge; the Washington approach with reconstruction of the SR 14 interchange and ties to existing I-5 south of Evergreen Boulevard; and removal of the existing bridges. The project will be designed and constructed in two phases using the progressive design-build (PDB) delivery method.
