Board meetings and strategic plans from Village of Millbrook
The Town Board meeting addressed the amendment of the Town of Newport Zoning Ordinance, which involved revisions made by the Planning Board with the aid of consultants over three years to align with the Town's 2011 Comprehensive Plan. The Board authorized the Supervisor to issue a negative declaration, confirming that the proposed amendments would not adversely impact the environment. Local Law No. 1 of 2024 was adopted, directing the Town Clerk to file the law with the New York State Secretary of State and publish an abstract in the Town's official newspapers. Additionally, the Town Clerk was instructed to file a "Notice of Local Municipal Body Final Action" with the Oneida County Department of Planning. The host community agreement shall include payment of $1,000 per MW of the Solar Energy Facility's capacity.
Resolution 2025-4 designates the third Thursday of each month for the regular meeting of the Newport Planning Board at the Newport Town Offices for the 2025 calendar year.
The Town Board authorizes the Supervisor to make budgetary transfers from General Funds to specified accounts.
The Newport Town Board is considering a local law to regain final authority over special use permits, which would involve receiving recommendations from the Planning Board. A public hearing is scheduled to gather feedback from interested parties regarding this proposed change.
The meeting addressed the transfer of unexpended balances from the year 2024 to respective accounts in the 2025 budget, as outlined in Resolution 2025-30.
