The SHAC/GAC meeting included updates from the Springfield-Greene County Health Department regarding an increase in Pertussis and Varicella cases. Portable exercise equipment was purchased for employees. School counselors provided updates from their respective buildings, including the success of Wellness Week, disability awareness education, and preparations for Child Grief Awareness Day. The Middle School counseling team is focusing on gratitude lessons, conflict resolution, and bully prevention. Care to Learn (CTL) reported a rise in student needs, providing essential items and mental-health-related educational resources. Strong communication and collaboration among school counselors, nurses, administration, CTL liaisons, and teaching staff were highlighted as essential for supporting students and their families.

The SHAC meeting included a review and discussion of participation in wellness challenges and activities from the current school year. New ideas submitted anonymously by participants in the monthly Google Wellness Form were reviewed, with favored ideas for implementation next year including a quarterly building challenge, a Google folder for recipes, and sharing wellness apps. The possibility of combining SHAC and Counselor Advisory meetings next year was also considered.

The meeting will cover reorganization, including the dissolution of the board, election of officers, and committee representative selections. Discussion and action items include construction updates, program evaluations (Parents as Teachers, Professional Development Committee, Gifted), employee health insurance premiums, salary schedules, extra-curricular assignments, letters of intent, and career ladder.
