Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD)

The meeting focused on the Recreation and Stewardship plan for the Assawompset Pond Complex and Nemasket River Watershed. Key topics included a project overview, the development of plan recommendations, a SWOT analysis of recreational activities, and an assessment of management actions. The discussion emphasized balancing recreational opportunities with drinking water supply protection and resource stewardship, while addressing issues such as signage, invasive species management, and regional cooperative stewardship capacity.

This strategic plan outlines a vision for the Watershed, addressing key areas such as flood risk reduction, safeguarding public drinking water supplies, and improving water quality. It further focuses on preserving wildlife and habitat, encouraging sustainable development, enabling ecologically appropriate recreation, fostering a widespread culture of stewardship, and expanding cooperative management among various entities to achieve the 2050 Vision for the Watershed.
