Northbrook-Glenview School District 30

This document provides a Year 1 review of District 30's five-year strategic plan, which focuses on five key goals. These include fostering academic growth and achievement for all students, enhancing staff recruitment and retention alongside building a positive climate, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment with a focus on social-emotional development, strengthening community partnerships through effective communication, and maintaining responsible fiscal management with secure facilities. The review highlights progress made in the first year and outlines priorities for future implementation, aiming to serve the students, staff, and community.

The Board of Education meeting featured a recognition ceremony for the Maple Math team to celebrate their outstanding performance during the season. The team was acknowledged for their success in the AMC8 competition, where they scored in the top 5% nationally, and for their second-place finish in the Math Counts Chapter Competition. Additionally, the Board recognized the team's participation at the state level, where they secured ninth place, and honored individual student accomplishments in the state countdown round.

The board meeting focused on the recognition and appreciation of the District 30 PTO co-presidents for their volunteer contributions, leadership, and collaboration with school administration throughout the year. The speakers highlighted the importance of the PTOs in fostering a connection between home and school and enriching the educational environment for students.

This strategic plan for District 30 aims to create an inclusive community that inspires learning, fosters resilience, and cares deeply for every child, focusing on nurturing the whole child through academic growth, well-being, and individual passions. It is guided by values including student-centered education, open communication, growth mindsets, community collaboration, inclusivity and belonging, and health and well-being, to encourage students to become confident, lifelong learners making a positive impact in the world.

The Board of Education recognized Wescott fifth-grade students for their participation in a student job program. Students serving as tech teachers, office helpers, and custodial crew were honored with certificates for their contributions, including supporting classroom technology, managing office tasks and bulletin boards, and assisting with facility upkeep for school events.
