Procurement guidance and navigation tips.
Lower scores indicate easier procurement processes. Created by Starbridge.
Sole Source: If sale is less than $10,000, use sole source. Do not lead with this. If raised, steer the buyer back to the approved coop path.
Coops: Use a pre-competed cooperative (start with Sourcewell). Confirm your product is on-contract and have Purchasing Agent Travis Fort validate; proceed via the coop to avoid a formal bid.
City of Sandersville: No evidence of a formal sole source pathway in public records—deprioritize. Context: competitive bidding triggers at $10,000; council approval noted at $2,500.
Board meetings and strategic plans from City of Sandersville
The public hearing focused on a proposed workforce housing project involving the development of approximately 68 homes. Discussion points included the potential use of county property to be annexed into the city, the procurement of a $2.5 million grant from the One Georgia Authority for necessary infrastructure, and the involvement of a third-party developer. The board addressed project risks, the timeline for home construction, home price points, infrastructure maintenance, and HOA formation. The council was requested to execute a letter of intent to support the grant application, with further approvals to follow if the grant is awarded.
The meeting focused on various community initiatives and public concerns. Key topics included an update on the Archway Partnership program, featuring the Look Ahead Georgia internship initiative and student service projects. The council also discussed a workforce assessment survey in collaboration with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, the upcoming start of the University of Georgia School of Medicine cohort, and ongoing efforts by the mental health task force. Additionally, a resident requested the installation of speed bumps on Cooler Drive to address increased traffic and safety concerns, prompting a discussion on the process for petitioning the council for such traffic calming measures.
The meeting focused on discussions regarding roof pitch requirements and variance requests for manufactured homes within the city. Council members and Planning and Zoning representatives debated the impact of current zoning ordinances on affordable housing costs and the potential for ordinance amendments. Concerns were raised about consistent information provided to applicants in the zoning office and the necessity of upholding city policies uniformly.
The council discussed manufactured home community plans involving roof pitch requirements, recognized the city as a Mainstreet Community, and reviewed water tank maintenance contracts. Discussions also addressed watershed protection plan sampling, code enforcement, an annexation request for water services, and an ordinance amendment concerning permitted uses for data mining operations. Additionally, the council heard updates on school zone camera operations and public comments regarding a recent police traffic stop, and addressed requests for special exceptions in zoning.
The council reviewed a proposed housing development project and a request for a roof pitch variance from 4/12 to 3/12 for manufactured homes. Discussion centered on balancing the need for affordable housing with existing city ordinances regarding building aesthetics and construction standards. Additionally, the council received an update regarding the city's status as a Main Street community for 2026 and discussed plans for ongoing infrastructure and tank maintenance.
