City of Mercer Island Public Works

The City Council meeting included discussion and action on a variety of topics. Payroll certifications and accounts payable certifications were approved. Reallocation of capital project resources was approved for the Lakeline Reach 1 Capacity Improvement Project, and an appropriation was approved for emergency water main repairs on East Mercer Way. The council also considered an update to connection charges for the water distribution and sewer conveyance systems, as well as permanent regulations for housing production, permit streamlining, temporary uses, and structures including outdoor dining. Other items included a proclamation for Shop Small Month and ratification of a proclamation ending a local emergency.

The Parks & Recreation Commission meeting included discussions and updates on the Clarke and Groveland Beach Parks Joint Park Infrastructure Plan, a review of athletic field use, and a discussion on the Sport Court Use and Allocation Policy. The commission also addressed the possibility of establishing a rowing facility or community on Mercer Island. A letter of appreciation to Paul West was approved.

The meeting included recognition of the Mercer Island Community Fund's contributions, payroll and claims certifications, and proclamations for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Arbor Day, and Indigenous Peoples' Day. Discussions covered the naming of pickleball courts at Luther Burbank Park and a briefing on a fee in lieu of work for town center affordable housing. Updates were provided on city matters such as e-motorcycle regulations, infrastructure plans for Clarke & Groveland Beach Parks, traffic signal updates, and upcoming community events.
