The scheduled regular meeting of the Planning Commission was formally cancelled. Notification was provided regarding the date and time for the subsequent regular meeting.

The Design Commission conducted public hearings and granted approval for two design review requests. The first approval was for a new cross and courtyard wall sign at St. Bede's The Venerable Catholic Church. The second approval, granted with recommendations and subject to staff review, was for a new wall sign at Sushi Nakata Express. The meeting also included an announcement regarding a commissioner's resignation and the initiation of a process to seek a replacement.

The meeting included reports from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department regarding fire activity and crime statistics for January 2026. Additionally, a presentation was provided by the Pasadena Humane Society concerning coyote activity and wildlife management. The Commission also conducted a nomination and election process to appoint a representative to the Emergency Preparedness Coordination Committee and received updates on enforcement efforts regarding traffic safety, including loud exhausts and speeding.

The Commission received staff updates on various Capital Improvement Projects, the monthly work accomplishments, and the proposed work plan. A public hearing was held regarding the requested removal of a Chinese Elm tree within the public right-of-way, which the Commission subsequently approved. Additionally, staff provided reports on the appointment of Commission representatives to the Emergency Preparedness Coordinating Committee, updates on a private development project, and recent City Council actions concerning the Speed Hump Policy. Commissioners also discussed requests for future agenda items, including stormwater management and revisions to the existing tree ordinance.
