The project includes the modification to the WWPCP aeration tanks from a 2-pass conventional activated sludge treatment process to a 3-pass BNR configuration with internal mixed liquor recycle to increase the wet-weather secondary treatment capacity to 40 MGD to comply with the Consent Decree. Secondary treatment modifications include replacement of process mechanical equipment, electrical, instrumentation and controls upgrades. The project also includes installation of 1,100 LF of 36" sewer to divert flow from the east detritus tank to the two Wet Weather Holding Tanks during wet weather event

The work shall consist of approx. the demolishing of three (3) blowers and providing three (3) new blowers, demolishing fine bubble diffused aeration systems in three (3) aeration tanks and providing new fine bubble diffused aeration systems in the three (3) aeration tanks, demolishing and providing new dissolved oxygen (D.O.) meters, rehabilitating two (2) existing blowers (Contract Allowance), demolishing two (2) return activated sludge (RAS) pumps and providing two (2) new RAS pumps, demolishing a waste activated sludge (WAS) pump and providing a new WAS pump, providing a new fine screen with washer/compactor, demolishing and providing new coagulant feed lines, concrete repair, demolishing a motor control center and providing a new motor control center, heating and ventilation improvements, demolishing and providing new lights, plumbing improvements, providing new doors, new instruments, new controls and other items described in the Bidding Documents for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Aeration System, RAS/WAS Pumping and Fine Screen Improvements Project complete and operational for the Sturgeon Bay Utilities Wastewater Treatment Facility.
