Village of Akron Water Tower Improvements Project RFP

Description: A comprehensive improvements project for the water tower and the site. The project also includes the installation of flushing hydrants along the transmission main that fills the water tower. The project includes the comprehensive upgrade the elevated water storage tower and site, including select demolition, general site work, site piping work, the removal of coating on the interior and exterior of the existing water tower, application of a new coating on the tower, installation of a new TTHM removal system and mixer in the tower, installation of new chlorine chemical feed equipment. The construction of anew flow meter vault, the construction of a new building for specialty control valves, control panels and chemical storage, and all ancillary equipment and components, SCADA and integration for the project will be completed by the Owner through a separate professional service agreement.

Water Tower Painting and Miscellaneous Repair Project (Village Greens) RFP
The structure is a 1,500,000 gallon fluted column elevated water storage tank with a high-water level of 85.5 ft. and a diameter of 86 ft. The work includes: Exterior: Abrasive blast clean to an SSPC-SP6 commercial standard within containment. Apply a four (4) coat zinc epoxy urethane fluoropolymer system. Wet Interior: Abrasive blast clean to an SSPC-SP10 near-white metal standard. Apply a three (3) coat zinc epoxy system. Apply a polyurethane caulk to the roof lap seams. Dry Interior: Abrasive blast clean the spot coating failures throughout to an SSPC-SP6 commercial standard. Apply a spot two (2) coat epoxy system to the prepared surfaces. Pit Piping: Abrasive blast clean to an SSPC-SP6 commercial standard. Apply a two (2) coat epoxy system. Foundation: Abrasive blast clean and apply a two (2) coat epoxy system. Splash Pad: Install a concrete splash pad at the overflow pipe discharge. Cathodic Protection: Install an impressed current cathodic protection system. Repairs: 1)Replace the bowl manway gasket. 2)Install a gasket on the bolted painter’s hatch. 3)Install deflector bars on the fill/draw pipe. 4)Replace the sample tap on the fill/draw pipe. 5)Replace the mud valve. 6)Overflow discharge modification. 7)Install a wet interior ladder. 8)Install a swing gate at the top platform opening. 9)Install a pressure vacuum vent and remove the existing vents. 10)Install a roof handrail with a painter’s railing. 11)Relocate the aviation light to a free-standing mount. 12)Repair damaged electrical junction box. 13)Replace the dry interior light bulbs. 14)Install grounding rods for the structure. 15)Install radar monitoring system. 16)Replace the overhead door.
