SR 544, Nooksack River Overflow Culvert ER Permanent Repair

Description: WSDOT is advertising a public works contract to replace the Nooksack River overflow culvert on SR 544 in Whatcom County. Work includes relocating utilities, removing the existing 135-foot arch culvert, constructing a new bridge, modifying the existing bridge approach, installing drainage, providing scour protection, landscaping, and traffic control. The contract is federally funded and has an 18% federal small business enterprise goal.

Culvert Repair Project On Sr 613 N of the Railroad Tracks
Work includes culvert repair. work includes the insertion and grouting of a liner pipe inside the culvert and repairing the embankment & replacing the guardrail. ODOT D1's hydraulic engineer has run calculations that show a 54" liner pipe with improved inlet would work hydraulically, the item 707.85 steel reinf. Thermoplastic ribbed liner pipe is approved by ODOT's Office of Hydraulic Engineering. The guardrail must also be disposed of and replaced. The site must be restored to its original condition.

Furnish and install precast wingwall on downstream side of existing box culvert. Furnish and install 115 tons of class 3 rip rap. Profile and grade 20 CY of drainage course into plunge pool. Raffic protection & maintenance. Removal of trees. Removal and disposal of existing gabion & stone walls for diversion swale. Removal and disposal of native soil. Bracing of existing utility pole. Furnish and install 18 tons of crushed gravel for leveling pad for segmental precast concrete wall. Furnish and install 182 LF of segmental precast reinforced concrete wall. Furnish and install 260 SY of geogrid reinforcement. Furnish and install 300 CY of crushed gravel for segmental wall backfill. Removal and re-installation of pedestrian bridge for 217 mountain road. Furnish and install 70 LF of guide rail. Furnish and install 11 guide rail posts. Furnish and install 2 end sections for guide rail. Furnish and install 32 tons of class 2 rip rap. Furnish and install 40 tons of binder. Furnish and install 27 tons of topcoat. Rock excavation 20 CY. Relocate three existing water service lines. Relocate three existing gas service lines.
