Works competitive bidding. Ancillary work includes environmental needs assessment and document

recommendations, and project management.\.
Location
The project sites are largely located on Borregas Avenue between the 237 and 101 Freeways and on
Alturas Avenue between Borregas Avenue and W. Ahwanee Avenue. These streets have no signalized
intersections
B. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This storm drain (SD) project generally includes the following work:
• Rehabilitate of approx. 2,200 LF of existing 16” SD
• Replace approx. 350 LF of existing 15” SD with 18” SD.
• Install approx. 500 LF of new 24” SD.
• Perform SD connections and disconnections with existing junction structures.
• Install new SD manholes, one of which will include a flow throttling function.
The existing 16” SD pipe to be rehabilitated is very old, deformed, and fractured Vitrified Clay Pipe
(VCP). Some areas are at risk of collapse if the rehab method disturbs the pipe wall. Slip lining and
spiral wound lining are not practical for this reason, and because they do not maximize the post-project
pipe ID. Pipe bursting to the same ID or larger appears impractical due to pipe size, shallow pipe depth,
and risks to crossing utilities and the street surface. Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining is anticipated to
be the preferred alternative. CCTV of the entire length of the existing 16” pipe will be provided to the
selected consultant.
