The City of Bend is advancing to the next phase of the Outback Facility Improvements Project, aimed at design and construction of water pretreatment facilities and in-conduit hydroelectric generation facilities that would use existing water already being diverted to the Water Filtration Facility. Additionally, the City expects that the Project will include realignment of the Forest Service 4606 road at the Outback Site. This anticipated work is intended to prevent an interruption of drinking water supply during a wildfire within the watershed, power outages, and other natural events that cause heavy sediment loading in Bridge Creek that exceed the treatment capacity of the existing Water Filtration Facility.
