Noninvasive Detection and Localization of Occult Hemorrhage

Description: The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeks SBIR proposals for a noninvasive or minimally invasive capability to detect, localize, and characterize life-threatening occult or non-compressible torso hemorrhage outside a hospital. Phase I calls for a proof-of-concept sensing and artificial-intelligence framework for rapid detection, anatomical-source identification, bleeding-rate estimation, and clinically actionable results for Role 1 medical personnel, while Phase II would mature and validate a portable prototype for broader battlefield injury scenarios. The Release 6 BAA permits Phase I and Direct to Phase II submissions for this topic, with DARPA requiring electronic submission and anticipating FAR-based contracts or Other Transactions for prototypes rather than a grant.
