Compost Facility Odor reduction Improvements - Part 2
The City of Columbus says the project will reduce emissions to the atmosphere while increasing facility capacity and flexibility within its biosolids beneficial-use program. It will expand processing capacity and leachate collection and upgrade the technology and techniques used for composting to improve control of odors emitted to the surrounding area. The listed work elements are one compost pad with blowers and aeration legs, four biofilters with blowers, headers, and new foul-air distribution piping, a new instrumentation, monitoring, and control system, improved leachate management, site layout and safety improvements, and new electrical distribution equipment.

Nutrient Reduction Improvements
The project consists of six design packages and early work equipment pre-procurement. It encompasses extensive upgrades and structural repairs across multiple facilities, including West and East Headworks grit chambers, screen buildings, primary clarifiers, and sludge pumps. Key elements include the demolition of existing structures, installation of BNR compressors and aeration diffusers, upgrades to anaerobic/fermentation tanks, replacement of nitrification clarifier mechanisms, effluent pump station enhancements, primary digester lid and heat exchanger replacements, and lagoon revetment mat updates along with associated electrical and control systems integration.

Commercial facility reduction services, to include demolition, abatement, site restoration, and related services. General work activities performed under this contract include planning, coordination, and execution of building and facility removal/demolition. Major features of work include, but are not limited to, removal, demolition, and/or deconstruction (when economically feasible) of small to very large buildings and structures (such as Test Stands, Wind Tunnels, etc.). This includes but is not limited to the removal, demolition, and/or deconstruction of trees and vegetation, parking lots, drives, sidewalks, roadways, utility and electrical disconnections, removal and rerouting/service of utility connections, removal of outbuildings (such as sheds, gazebos, carports, barns), site-assessments, environmental assessments, abatement of facilities contaminants (i.e., Lead, asbestos, chemicals, PCBs, Petroleum byproducts), removal of above or underground storage tanks, recycling of building materials, redirection of debris waste streams, value engineering, site restoration, data collection /data analysis/reporting, hazardous and non-hazardous debris transportation, environmental sampling, and other activities pertaining to abatement, demolition, destruction, reduction and site restoration.
