Appleton Street / Church Street Transportation Improvement

Description: The project reconstructs the Appleton Street/Gorham Street/Church Street intersection area in downtown Lowell. Planned improvements include new traffic signal equipment at four intersections, pedestrian and multimodal facilities, a Church Street crossing, bicycle lanes, widened sidewalks, enhanced bus stops, and high-visibility pedestrian crossings. The City says MassDOT funding supports the work and construction would begin in 2027.
