Upper Grand District School Board

This document outlines the UGDSB Student Mental Health & Well-being Strategy Strategic Framework for 2023-2026. It is guided by principles that address colonial systems, engage communities, amplify marginalized voices, and provide differentiated, identity-specific approaches. The strategy focuses on six key priority areas: whole student well-being promotion, student engagement and leadership, inclusive and identity-informed approaches, Indigenous well-being, early identification and skill-building, and mental health intervention and pathways. The aim is to create conditions for every student to develop and thrive by ensuring access to timely, personalized, and culturally sensitive mental health support.

The Multi-Year Plan for the Upper Grand District School Board is designed to inspire a love of learning and develop engaged, globally literate citizens, aspiring to be recognized as leaders in creating unparalleled, agile, and inclusive learning experiences. It is built upon a foundational priority of education and student achievement, with strategic pillars focusing on inspiring a lifelong love of learning, championing health and wellbeing, ensuring equity of access and outcomes, and leading through sustainability. The plan is enabled by fostering engaging and supportive learning environments, strengthening community relationships, and continuous learning, evaluation, and improvement.

The meeting included a verbal public health update. Discussions covered the impact of the pandemic on mental health, repeat COVID-19 infections, and the importance of vaccination and continued safety measures.
