This document serves as a guide for charter school boards to develop and implement a strategic plan. It outlines a comprehensive process involving gathering and analyzing information, identifying and setting goals such as student performance, financial, and governance, selecting and defining objectives, developing strategies with monitoring benchmarks, creating implementation plans, and measuring success and evaluating progress. The guide emphasizes improving organizational effectiveness, monitoring actions and results, and ensuring the long-term viability of the school.

This strategic plan outlines the Colorado Charter School Institute's (CSI) direction for its School Food Authority (SFA) over the next three years. It focuses on achieving financial self-sustainability, strategically growing the SFA portfolio, improving meal quality and student participation by supporting self-operated models, and strengthening operational excellence through tiered supports. The plan aims to operate as a financially stable, high-quality nutrition program by FY28, supporting diverse school communities while responsibly stewarding public resources.

The CSI Performance Framework defines measures for holding schools accountable, guiding practice, assessing progress, and informing decision-making in academic, financial, and organizational performance. It focuses on evaluating school performance in academic achievement, growth, and postsecondary readiness, as well as financial stability and compliance, and organizational governance, educational programs, equity, and operations.

The Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI) strategic plan focuses on fostering high-quality educational options while prioritizing access and equity for all students, particularly those from historically underserved communities. Key strategies include targeted support for new schools to ensure readiness in serving diverse student populations, annual performance evaluations with specific metrics for enrollment diversity and student outcomes, program implementation reviews focusing on key student subgroups, and tiered supports and monitoring to ensure equitable and accessible high-quality education opportunities.

The Colorado Charter School Institute's board meeting included discussions and updates to various board policies. Policies such as the Code of Conduct Policy, Student Conduct Policy, Teaching About Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco Policy, Weapons in School Policy, and Performance Management were rescinded. The Bullying Prevention and Education Policy, Safe Schools Policy, Crisis Management Policy, and Institute Accreditation Policy were updated to reflect existing requirements, recommendations, and relevant statutes. Additionally, there was discussion regarding Colorado Commission on Higher Education Data Reporting and Student Records and Release of Information on Students Policies.
