This High-Quality Family Engagement Plan, developed in accordance with House Bill 3 Prekindergarten guidelines, aims to foster strong partnerships between Menchaca Early Childhood Center, Southside ISD, families, and the community to ensure positive outcomes for prekindergarten learners. The plan focuses on facilitating family-to-family support, establishing a network of community resources, increasing family participation in decision-making, equipping families with tools to enhance learning, providing professional development for educators, and continuously evaluating engagement efforts. It also includes transition activities and emphasizes linguistic and culturally inclusive practices, striving to help every child reach their full potential.

The Board of Trustees met to discuss and take action on the selection and approval of an architect for the bond project.

The board meeting agenda included several presentations covering the Educate South Initiative, recognition of retirees, an annual Bilingual/ESL program evaluation, campus attendance, special education protections for disciplinary matters, an updated organization chart, new website design, district dashboards, and an insurance comparison for the community health clinic. Financial updates included a review of financial statements. Action items involved the approval of tax collection reports, renewal of property and casualty insurance, workers' compensation coverage, nutrition department purchases, and a reading instrument waiver. Additionally, the board considered donations from private donors and the Education Foundation, as well as the adoption of local policy EIC.

Action items included approval of a wage resolution regarding weather-related closures, instructional materials, equipment donations, and tax reports. The board authorized construction purchases and the acquisition of equipment for the early childhood center. New business involved approving the 21st Century Grant, selecting a construction manager for the health clinic, and passing budget amendments. Additionally, the board approved employment contracts for administrators, teachers, nurses, and librarians for the upcoming school year, and resolved two employee grievance appeals.

The board meeting focused on several key items of new business. The board adopted an order to postpone the district's Bond election until November 2020 and approved an interlocal agreement with the City of San Antonio. Additionally, the board took action to name a lone finalist for the position of Superintendent.
