The Sherrard School Board voted to allow students to play basketball with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). The superintendent believes everyone is on the same page and that athletics is a very important part of the school experience, impacting all grade levels and mental health. The school district hopes that other schools follow suit. The Illinois governor moved the sport to high risk category for covert 19 in late October.

The September school board meeting recognized Jennifer Drish, Junior High English teacher, with the Tiger Talent award for her dedication and positive contributions to the school. The award celebrates those who model positive character qualities and encourage students to become future leaders. Drish was nominated by the Junior High Principal for her patience, helpfulness, positive attitude, and ability to connect with students.

Five employees received the Tiger Talent Dedication award: Ryan Lilly (High School custodian), Jen Drish (Junior High English teacher), Todd Volkert (Matherville PE teacher), Kayla Hollins (Sherrard Elementary special education teacher), and Cyndi Adams (Winola Elementary custodian). The award celebrates employees who create a student-oriented atmosphere and engage with colleagues and students. Moving forward, one district-wide employee will receive the award monthly.
