Plattsmouth Community School District

The Board of Education adopted a student fees policy in accordance with the Public Elementary and Secondary Student Fee Authorization Act. The policy outlines guidelines for student fees, including non-specialized attire, personal or consumable items, extracurricular activities, specialized equipment, postsecondary education costs, transportation, copies of student files, before-and-after-school services, summer school, breakfast and lunch programs, and fee waivers. It establishes a Student Fee Fund for money collected from students for specific purposes.

The School Board adopted Policy 5006 and Appendix "1" regarding option enrollment, setting standards for acceptance or rejection of applications based on available staff, facilities, projected enrollment, and special education program availability. The policy includes setting maximum numbers for option students in various programs and declaring programs unavailable to option students if capacity is lacking. Severability is included, ensuring the validity of remaining sections if any part is deemed invalid.

This policy outlines the community relations process, including the annual report and school improvement plan. The annual report includes student academic performance, school demographics, improvement goals and progress, and financial information. The school improvement process involves reviewing and updating mission and vision statements, collecting and analyzing data, selecting improvement goals, developing and implementing an improvement plan, and evaluating progress. External reviews are conducted at least every five years.

The objectives of the Plattsmouth Community Schools instructional program focus on enabling students to react to their environment by acquiring fundamental skills and knowledge, fostering personal worth and direction, and providing equal opportunities for all students. The program aims to create an environment that respects individual freedoms and responsibilities, promotes physical and mental health, and maintains good public relations. It also emphasizes the selection of qualified administrators and teachers, and the continuous evaluation of the entire school system to measure the success of its philosophy and objectives.
