The meeting included a review of the purpose of the local school wellness policy, emphasizing its role in promoting students' health, well-being, and ability to learn through healthy eating and physical activity. The committee discussed the goals of the policy, considering evidence-based strategies and nutrition guidelines, including Smart Snacks Standards. They also reviewed how stakeholders participate in the policy's development, implementation, review, and updates. The committee compared the Wellness Policy against the Local Wellness Policy Content Checklist and the Needs Assessment and Evaluation Tool to ensure compliance.

The Mascoutah CUSD#19 Professional Learning Community (PLC) is an ongoing process focused on improving student achievement. The core ideology is to engage every student every day. The vision is to provide every student with resources and opportunities for personal growth, developing 21st-century skills and becoming contributing members of society. The PLC's values include having every staff member on a PLC team, developing SMART goals, collaborating on four critical questions, establishing team norms, aligning behaviors to collective commitments, and scheduling dedicated collaboration time. The three big ideas of the PLC are a focus on learning, results, and collaboration.
