This School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) outlines a strategic roadmap to maximize resources and align with federal and state requirements to enhance student achievement. The plan focuses on four key areas: improving academic performance in English Language Arts and Mathematics, fostering student and family engagement to increase school connectedness and reduce chronic absenteeism, elevating college and career awareness and preparedness, and increasing reclassification rates for English Learners. Its overarching vision is to inspire learners to thrive in an ever-changing world by creating opportunities for growth and success.

The meeting covered several new topics and discussions. Information was provided regarding the duties and responsibilities of the committee members. The election of committee officers was postponed until the next meeting. The committee reviewed the results of the 2024-2025 needs assessment, which received 52 responses, focusing on annual monitoring of English learners, workshops, and parent engagement initiatives, including an upcoming ERUSD Family Connect event in January. Discussions also addressed parental involvement trends, the location of board meetings (moving from Wednesday to Thursday due to late Tuesday board meetings), and the impact of ICE raids on student enrollment, noting the availability of support systems for affected families. The DELAC survey was also presented.

The meeting included a presentation from LA CADA Youth and Family Services, where representatives discussed their programs focusing on youth addiction as a chronic disease and the availability of NARCAN supplies and educational classes for students and parents. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to an LCAP/LCFF update, specifically focusing on Educational Partner Engagement Strategies, Goal 2. Members participated in an exercise to identify aspects of Goal 2 that are working well, barriers to engagement, and opportunities for greater engagement. Other business included updates on local school fundraisers and the announcement of the ERUSD Family Connect keynote speaker.

Key discussions during the meeting included a review of the roles and responsibilities of the District Advisory Committee (DAC), encouraging members to voice opinions and share information with their School Site Councils. DAC officer elections were held, resulting in new selections for Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Community Member. An update on the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) was provided, outlining the 2024-2027 goals and monitoring progress. Furthermore, upcoming parent engagement events were announced, specifically the PIQE program and the ERUSD Family Connect event scheduled for January 2026. Various upcoming school site events for October and November 2025 were also shared.

The meeting commenced with a call to order and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by welcomes including the Interim Superintendent. Key new business items included a presentation by LA CADA regarding services for youth and families. The election of committee officers (President, Vice President, Parliamentarian, Secretary, and Community Member) was postponed due to lack of quorum. Discussions were held regarding the student reclassification process, including criteria and options for students, and the mandatory written notifications required by the state for parents under Title I and Title III, as well as courtesy letters sent by the district. A review of the Consolidated Application (ConApp) and an update on LCFF/LCAP funding and goals were also presented. A community member expressed commendation for the efforts toward students, and a question was raised regarding school isolation alerts.
