It proposes two approaches: updating the existing model through refinement and alignment, or building an entirely new model that reconsiders foundational aspects like grade levels and instructional methodologies. The Dedham Public Schools Strategic Plan for 2025-2030 is designed to provide equitable and innovative learning opportunities for all students. It focuses on teaching and learning, aiming to improve academic performance through evidence-based practices and a vertically aligned curriculum. The plan also prioritizes creating safe and supportive schools, enhancing family and community engagement, and strategically managing budget and capital improvements to support student and staff needs.

The meeting included the swearing in of new School Committee members, nominations and votes for the new Chair and Vice-Chair. Recognition was given to a DMS student for an honorable mention in the Massachusetts Partnership for Youth (MPY) Poster & Public Service Announcement Project. There was a public comment period. A student update was delivered, covering Dedham High School, Dedham Middle School, and Elementary Schools. An out-of-state field trip request by DHS to Newport, R.I. was approved. The Superintendent provided an update. The High School Programming -- Innovation Pathways Update and High School Competency Update were discussed. The Team-Based Learning (TBL) Update was presented. Temporary Subcommittee Appointments were confirmed. The budget was discussed. There were updates from the Facilities, Negotiations, Policy, and SBRC subcommittees. A donation was accepted.
