The subcommittee discussed updates regarding the Village Master Plan, including the selection of a consulting vendor and upcoming kick-off meetings, as well as a memo to the Planning Commission. Members reviewed the Housing Chapter of the Town Plan, focusing on objectives, alignment with state and regional goals, historical housing production data, and the barrier posed by the lack of public wastewater infrastructure. They also explored strategies for public engagement, including the charrette process for the master plan and potential standalone public events, while deliberating on messaging sensitivity regarding development and the need for public education on housing affordability.
The committee discussed several initiatives, including the coordination of a town-wide yard sale to support waste reduction and the installation of new signage at the Transfer Station. Updates were provided on the BetterBin subscription, usage analysis, and plans to distribute a resident survey. The status of the Ploughshare project was addressed, noting difficulties with management and volunteer recruitment, resulting in the item being tabled. Additionally, upcoming community events such as shredding and styrofoam collection were reviewed.
The Selectboard meeting focused on the adoption of the agenda and public comment regarding a conflict resolution workshop. The board entered an executive session to receive attorney-client communications and discuss legal strategy and a settlement offer related to a tax appeal litigation concerning the fair market value of a residential property. Upon returning to public session, the board voted to approve the Flannery settlement proposal.
