Carlisle School District

The board meeting addressed two main agenda items. First, a motion was passed to make masks optional on all school transportation. Second, a motion was passed to appoint a school board member as the ASBA Voting Delegate and District Liaison for the current school year.

The board conducted two executive sessions regarding student expulsion hearings and subsequently voted to expel two students for violations of the student discipline handbook. Furthermore, the board reviewed and voted on COVID-19 related policies, specifically adopting a new quarantine policy and revising the COVID-19 leave policy to limit eligibility to faculty and staff who test positive for the virus.

This three-year action plan outlines strategies for the Care/Isle School District to enhance minority teacher and administrator recruitment and retention, and to inspire minority students to pursue careers in education. The plan is structured around three key focus areas: recruiting a diverse educator workforce, retaining this diverse workforce, and increasing the number of students, particularly minorities, who pursue education careers. It includes specific goals, action steps, and responsibilities with target dates, aiming to achieve a more diverse and representative employee composition.

The board received administrative updates from district and high school leadership, as well as curriculum and financial reports. In personnel matters, the board approved contract renewals for classified staff and processed various resignations and new hires for teaching and staff positions. New business included the approval of multiple salary schedules for the upcoming school year, modifications to contract days for secretarial staff, and approval of school choice applications.

The board approved a board-to-board student transfer from the DeWitt School District. Additionally, the board accepted the resignation of a maintenance assistant and approved the hiring of a replacement for the same position. The board also conducted an executive session before adjourning the meeting.
