Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School District 307

The public hearing will discuss the proposal to sell bonds in the amount of $62,000,000 to alter, repair and equip the Bradley-Bourbonnais High School Building and improve the site thereof, including installing safety, security and technology improvements, improving heating, cooling and ventilation systems and fine arts facilities, building and equipping a fieldhouse addition, eliminating mobile classrooms, renovating science labs and other learning spaces and expanding cafeteria and food service areas.

The strategic plan, Vision 307: In Focus, aims to guide students in defining and pursuing a successful path to college, career, and life readiness. It focuses on supporting mastery of critical learning standards, fostering optimal relationships through an adaptive and collaborative learning environment, leveraging technology to extend learning opportunities, supporting student ownership through voice and responsibility, and developing supportive family and community partnerships. The plan utilizes quality measures to track progress towards these goals.

The BBCHS District 307 Improvement Plan focuses on empowering students on their pathway to success by guiding them in defining and pursuing college, career, and life readiness. The plan is built upon core beliefs such as collaboration, results orientation, continuous learning, respect for people, collective responsibility, and the potential for improvement in all systems. It outlines strategic goals related to student success, learning culture, a thriving workforce, community partnerships, and resource stewardship. The plan employs a model for improvement based on setting objectives, measuring success, and implementing changes through a cycle of planning, action, study, and adjustment, guided by principles of being focused, user-centered, attending to variability, seeing the system, embracing measurement, learning through disciplined inquiry, and organized networks.

This plan outlines the use of ARP-ESSER III funds to address the impact of lost instructional time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Key areas of focus include implementing prevention and mitigation strategies for safe in-person learning; addressing the academic impact of lost instructional time through evidence-based interventions such as summer learning, after-school programs, and credit recovery; targeting groups at risk for academic and social-emotional struggles; and ensuring interventions respond to the needs of all students, particularly those disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Funds will also support improvements in infrastructure, such as outdoor spaces, large indoor spaces, and HVAC systems. The plan emphasizes meaningful consultation with stakeholders and equitable and inclusive return to in-person instruction.

The board meeting included public comments, committee reports covering operations, principals, curriculum, and community relations, and superintendent's comments on website issues and the 1% sales tax. The budget was approved, along with personnel matters including hires, resignations, and retirements. Summer school programs were reviewed. Several policies were placed on a 30-day review. An administrative evaluation process was discussed. Closed session discussions resulted in the approval of a settlement agreement with the Laborers International Union of North America and a settlement agreement with an employee related to an unfair labor practice charge.
