Borough of Seaside Park

The work session addressed several key discussion items including a facilities use application for a film production that involved parking lot and road closures. The Council discussed establishing reasonable fees for the use of parking spaces on North Ocean Avenue and the rental of the community room. Additionally, the Council reviewed a contract award for a portable diesel generator following an unresponsive bidding process and discussed an engineering services contract for an evaluation and inventory of roadways in South Seaside Park, citing a lack of documentation from Berkeley Township.

The meeting included the promotion of a police officer to the rank of Sergeant. The council held a public hearing and approved an ordinance amending zoning provisions for the beachfront residential zone and an ordinance authorizing the conveyance of property located at the former elementary school site. Additionally, an ordinance amending vehicle and traffic regulations regarding handicap parking spaces was approved. The governing body also authorized a filming request for Trust the Man LLC.

The Council discussed and approved a proclamation celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence. Several ordinances were addressed, including amendments to development regulations concerning substantial damage and freeboard requirements, the conveyance of real property on the school block, and updates to vehicles and traffic ordinances. Various municipal authorizations were granted for local events, including block parties and beach baptisms. The Council also accepted a grant from the New Jersey Clean Vessel Act Program and approved various administrative resolutions, such as municipal staff appointments, salary increases, and engineering service agreements for boardwalk and storm water improvement projects.

The council discussed the conveyance of the elementary school property, including roof repair status and future use of the building. The council also deliberated on a contract with Stockton University regarding the reimbursement of costs associated with the removal of an abandoned vessel, and reviewed an engineering services contract with Remington Bernick Engineers for a Bayfront stormwater improvement project, noting that the agreement is contingent upon grant funding. Additionally, a brief personnel matter was addressed in an executive session.

The committee held a discussion regarding the Youth Prevention Coalition and reviewed the status of the Municipal Alliance.
