Summary
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) services for the US 101 South of Salinas Corridor Improvement Project, which will convert approximately 8.5 miles of US 101 from Main Street overcrossing in Chualar (PM 76.55) to about 0.56 miles south of Airport Blvd overcrossing in Salinas (PM 85.04) from an existing expressway to a full access control freeway, including reconstructing the Chualar and Abbott Street interchanges with separated-grade railroad crossings and constructing new local frontage roads. The estimated construction capital cost is approximately $378 million, with an additional $48 million for Right of Way capital. Statements of Qualification (SOQs) must be received by 3:00 PM PDT on July 8, 2026; this is an active competitive procurement for CM/GC professional services and is not a grant program.
