GAC Treatment Optimization

Description: Project includes retrofitting one l/2 building carbon contactor, consisting of two cells, to serve as the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (pfas) pilot study system; restoring upflow and downflow operating capability through modifications to the existing underdrain nozzle system; and implementing a proof-of-concept evaluation for carbon transfer improvements. If authorized by the owner, phase 2 of the project will include retrofitting the remaining seven carbon contactors (i. E. , fourteen cells) with the selected improvements based on the results of phase 1.
