Bicentennial Mall SP WWII Globe Vault Replacement RFP
The Contractor shall remove the granite globe (for reuse), from the fountain base stone using a crane and an appropriate ball sling to support the 20,000 lb. globe. The granite globe shall be placed on a wooden crib support. Crib shall be custom built to allow 1/3 of the globe to rest in the cradle. Cradle shall be lined with one (1) inch foam iso board for cushioning. The Contractor shall provide and install a concrete slab as the foundation for the mechanical vault. The concrete slab shall measure seven (7) foot by ten (10) foot by six (6) inches thick and shall be reenforced with ¼ inch welded wire. The Contractor shall secure the vault with 5/8 wedge anchor bolts to the slab. The Contractor shall supply and install a new mechanical vault and components. The Contractor shall use the excavated area to install the new vault to house mechanical and electrical. This area shall be excavated to accommodate a larger vault if necessary. Excavation shall exceed the size of the vault by three (3) feet on at least two (2) sides to allow plumbing and electrical connections to the new vault. Caution shall be taken to connect any subterranean drainage around the base of the vault. New vault shall have at least one (1) foot topsoil cover, if necessary, a vault hatch extension may be necessary to extend hatch opening to one foot above grade. Hatch door shall have a keyed lock handle for entry. Hatch door shall also have assist cylinder to assist in opening, it shall also be equipped with a manual lock open device that must be manually operated to close hatch door. There shall be a door switch to activate light and fan upon door being opened.
