Town of Berry Whippoorwill Road Reconstruction

Description: Project includes the following Work: General work on all roadway sections: 1.Traffic control 2.Clearing and grubbing as required 3.Temporary erosion control 4.Sawing asphalt and concrete 5.Salvaging topsoil, seeding, fertilizer/turf restoration 6.Base aggregate 7.Shouldering and shoulder shaping 8.Asphalt paving 9.Undistributed geogrid, geotextile fabric, and EBS as required 10.Unclassified excavation 11.Placement of borrow or salvaged unclassified excavation for sideslope shaping as required 12.Ditching as required 13.Rip rap as required 14.All associated removals of existing culverts and endwalls/endwall features, asphalt pavement, and driveway aprons as required 15.Proposed storm sewer culverts and culvert replacements with CMP and RCP and endwalls of various sizes 16.Proposed permanent signage and sign supports Proposal 1 - Complete roadway reconstruction along approximately 1190 lineal feet of roadway on Whippoorwill Road including approximately 175 lineal feet of 36-inch concrete curb and gutter. Proposal 2 - Pulverizing, regrading, and paving of approximately 8900 lineal feet of roadway on Whippoorwill Road. Complete roadway reconstruction of approximately 500 lineal feet of roadway on Whippoorwill and Martinsville Roads at the Whippoorwill/Martinsville intersection. Proposal 3 - Grading and paving of approximately 480 lineal feet of roadway and the cul-de-sac at the south end of Whippoorwill Road. Bid Alternate A - VRAM. Installation of VRAM between the binder and surface lifts of pavement on all base bid roadway paving, Proposals 1, 2, and 3. Bid Alternate B - RAP Shouldering. Use of reclaimed asphaltic concrete material for shouldering instead of 3/4" dense graded base aggregate from a quarry for shouldering on all roadway paving sections, Proposals 1, 2, and 3. Bid Alternate C – Asphaltic Concrete Pavement, 4HT 58-28H (1.75-inch Surface). Replacement of bid item for Asphalt Concrete Pavement, 4MT 58-28S (1.75-inch Surface) for Proposal 1 only. The anticipated substantial completion date is October 23, 2026, for Milestone A work completed in 2026 and August 13, 2027, for Milestone B work (remaining work not completed in 2026) and final completion date is October 30, 2026, for Milestone A work completed in 2026 and August 27, 2027, for Milestone B work (remaining work not completed in 2026).
