Teton CSD#1 - Owner's Rep for JHS Addition RFP

Description: Construction of an approx. 20,000 SF addition to the existing campus. This proposed addition would include 13,000 square feet of purpose-built Career and Technical Education (CTE) classrooms and laboratories, a 1,500 SF expansion to the student dining area, 3,750 SF of new food preparation and kitchen space, new men’s and women’s restrooms, and a connecting hallway that will link the current hallways to the new addition and adjacent common areas of the building. The actual layout and location of the addition on the campus will be determined during the design process prior to construction, allowing for optimal integration with existing facilities and site conditions. In conjunction with this addition, the current 5,360 SF vocational building will be retrofitted into a maintenance and grounds facility. The primary benefits of this addition will be a significant increase in both student dining and CTE instructional space. The expanded dining area will better accommodate the school’s current enrollment and help alleviate lunch period congestion, giving students more time and space to eat and socialize. The new kitchen and serving area will improve food service efficiency, addressing long-standing issues with the current point-of-sale layout. The inclusion of 13,000 SF of CTE space will allow programs currently conducted in general classrooms, dining spaces, or other non-specialized environments to move into properly equipped learning environments. This shift will not only improve the quality of CTE instruction but will also free up general education classrooms for other essential uses such as technology support spaces and pull-out areas for individual or small-group instruction. These changes contribute to a more supportive and adaptable academic environment overall. Additionally, the conversion of CTE programs out of general classrooms and into dedicated facilities will result in a net gain of 4 to 6 general education classrooms. This increase in available instructional space is expected to support an expanded school capacity of approximately 100 to 150 additional students, providing flexibility for future enrollment growth. In addition to the core programmatic improvements, the addition will have several ancillary benefits that positively impact daily school operations. The new hallway will create a second continuous circulation path through the building, reducing congestion during passing periods and improving student flow throughout the day. The new restrooms will relieve pressure on existing facilities, improving student access and decreasing waiting times. While the main remedies addressed by this addition are increased dining capacity and enhanced CTE facilities, the broader outcome will be a more functional, flexible, and future-ready educational environment that supports both current needs and long-term growth.
