Summary
Work includes construction of a replacement city springs elementary/middle school facility. New building is to be constructed across the street from the existing school, at a site cleared prior to contractor mobilization; replacement building is 128,000 SF (+/-). New facility utilizes icf exterior and shear walls. Building is split in two by an icf firewall. Type iib construction is utilized for the two story educational classroom wing south of this wall. Type iiib construction is used for the public wing north of the fire wall. Building is designed to achieve net-zero energy usage, utilizing a ground source heat-pump system. The roof will be equipment with a photovoltaic array to offset energy usage. A geothermal well field is located underneath the playfields. The entire site is to be redeveloped with new storm water treatment facilities, playgrounds, outdoor learning spaces, landscaping, parking lot and artificial turf playfield.
