Rock Creek Road Fuel Break - Mastication Project (Request for Proposals)

Description: Contractor will masticate at least 22 acres within designated project area. Work shall generally consist of: Mechanical mastication of understory vegetation using tracked forestry equipment. Removal of non-merchantable conifer and hardwood trees less than 10" DBH. Removal of brush, ladder fuels, and dense understory vegetation. Treatment of downed woody material and surface fuels capable of contributing to wildfire intensity. Retention of healthy dominant overstory trees to preserve canopy cover and long-term forest health. Distribution of masticated material such that slash does not exceed an average depth of 12". Avoidance of excessive soil disturbance, rutting and damage to retained vegetation.
