Post-Op Medical Companion Services at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare Center RFP

Description: The contractor should provide caregiver services to include: Acting as the patients’ responsible adult during hours of duty. Escorting the patient to their procedure. Staying with the patient until handed off to a hospital staff member for their procedure. Remaining on hospital premises until the procedure is complete. ; Responding to calls and requests to return to the waiting room when needed. Telephone service is not always guaranteed. We emphasize the need for routine check-ins or to wait in the waiting room when possible. Being present and listening to postoperative instructions from the VA staff indicating patient care needs following the procedure. Assisting the patient in picking up medications, equipment, or food at the hospital, if needed. Returning the patient safely to the designated address indicated in the referral, or as instructed by the medical companion coordinator or designee. Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). ADLs include, but are not limited to bathing, showering, dressing, eating, transferring, toileting, and continence care. Staying with the patient at the designated return address, providing postoperative supervision until the conclusion of services as indicated on the referral. Completing and submitting all paperwork regarding patient care in a timely fashion. See attached file.
