The very end few bays of the pier is a standard timber low deck configuration, with deck planks and a seawall above the bents. The remaining portion and majority of the pier consists of steel trusses (vertical and diagonal I-beams) with top and bottom chords (back-to-back channels) that are supported by the timber cap beams, and a concrete deck above.

The pier substructure consists of timber bent lines (numbered west to east, or inshore to outshore) with numerous timber piles and a timber cap. The very end few bays of the pier is a standard timber low deck configuration, with deck planks and a seawall above the bents.
