Minor Hall Lab Suite 485 Renovation

Description: The renovation of Minor Hall Suite 485 will improve an existing 1,104 sf research suite into an optical laser lab with support spaces for a research team. The Suite will include a BSL-2 level wet lab with (3) 8 ft. optical tables, a workspace with workstations and collaborative areas, and a dry lab with (1) optical table. An existing private office in the suite will remain as-is. The scope includes, but is not limited to, removal of several existing walls, construction of new walls, flooring repairs, mechanical HVAC, electrical, and plumbing modifications, new ceilings, new casework, new doors, frames, and hardware. A new exhaust fan is included to discharge air from the BSL-2 wet lab out a new aluminum louver to be installed in the building’s façade. The project includes installation of overhead unistrut racks to support equipment, laser safety signage, laser curtains, and other laser- related infrastructure to meet LSO requirements. Structural, fire life safety system, and accessibility upgrades are included as required to meet code compliance. The scope of work may also include limited asbestos abatement in the ceilings of Suite 485, as required depending on the location of new anchor points for new ceilings and MEP equipment. The scope of accessible path of travel upgrades is to replace the existing, non-compliant exterior entry ramp, handrails, and concrete paving area outside the main entry on the southeast side of Minor Hall.
