The McDonough Housing Authority (MHA) is a public body corporate and politic established pursuant to the Housing Authorities Law of the State of Georgia for the purpose of providing safe, decent, and affordable housing to low- and moderate- income residents of the City of McDonough and surrounding areas of Henry County.
MHA operates under the governance of a Board of Commissioners and administers federally funded housing programs in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Through its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs, the Authority serves families, seniors, persons with disabilities, and other eligible households who may otherwise face housing instability.
The Authority is committed to responsible stewardship of public resources, regulatory compliance, and the preservation and improvement of its housing portfolio. MHA works collaboratively with local government, community stakeholders, and private partners to support neighborhood stabilization, redevelopment initiatives, and long-term community investment.
As part of its asset management and modernization strategy, MHA periodically undertakes demolition, construction, rehabilitation, and redevelopment projects to address obsolete structures, enhance safety, and prepare sites for future housing development opportunities. These efforts align with the Authority's mission to strengthen housing quality while expanding opportunities for residents.
