Construction and installation of four- teen (14) bench pads and associated accessible pathways at designated locations along the Town's Rail Trail.
Description: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Highway Division has advertised MassDOT Project 613163, "Lynnfield- Rail Trail Construction, from Ford Avenue to the Peabody City Line," for construction bids as of July 25, 2026. The project constructs an approximately 1.8-mile shared-use path segment of the rail trail extending from Ford Avenue in Lynnfield to the Peabody city line, with an estimated total contract cost of $5,491,176.35. The project is funded through the 2026 Transportation Improvement Program for the Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization via Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funds, with construction scheduled to begin in Autumn 2026.

The project will entail the improvement of approximately 5.2 miles of existing rail-trail from the Mt. Clare Volunteer Fire Department to the existing trailhead at Lost Creek. Trail construction will include resurfacing of existing aggregate trail surface, ditch cleanout and drainage improvements, traffic control measures, signage, fence replacement, and bridge decking and fall protection improvements.
