The official page identifies this as an Invitation for Bids from qualified vendors for an agency-specific term contract to train offenders at NCDAC facilities to obtain a Class A CDL before release, on an as-needed basis. Classes are intended for offenders scheduled to be released within 12 months, beginning at Wake Correctional Center and North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) before potential expansion after the pilot. The initiative is intended to help former offenders access higher-wage employment while addressing truck-driver needs in the private sector and potential state jobs.
