26-482 - Somerset Community College Replace Laurel South Building

Description: Work consists of approx. a new technical education building on a mostly cleared site. The building will be approximately 53,000 SF and will include Automotive and Diesel Technology, Construction Technology, HVAC, Electrical and Electronics, Industrial Maintenance Technology, and Welding labs as well as classrooms, administration, and building support spaces. The building exterior will include a mix of masonry, including some stone accents, insulated metal panel systems, and curtain wall framing. The roofing will be a two-ply modified bitumen system. The project is designed with the intent to achieve LEED Silver certification. Commissioning of the building systems and building envelope are included in the scope of work. Plumbing systems consist of domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. Compressed air and welding gas systems are also present in labs. The HVAC system is largely geothermal water-source heat pumps and energy recovery units. Electric heaters, mini-split heat pump systems, and direct gas fired heater with exhaust ventilation will also be utilized. The electrical system will include incoming utility infrastructure and an emergency natural gas generator. Other related systems include fire alarm, data, access controls infrastructure, local sound system infrastructure, and infrastructure for classroom technology equipment.
