A) the contractor shall decontaminate the sump area where the three existing seal elements are located. B) the contractor shall remove the existing seal element and clean the sleeve and pipe surfaces to a smooth finish as recommended by manufacturer. C) the contractor shall install a new modular pipe seal system for each of the three existing pipe penetrations. The contractor will use nitrile green rubber seal element, reinforced nylon polymer pressure plates, 316 stainless steel hardware, similar to model os-316 as manufactured by link seal and installed per manufacturer instructions. D) the contractor shall wear the appropriate ppe to protect themselves from various acids and cyanides. E) the contractor shall provide all necessary equipment and labor to complete the task of decontaminating, removing, and replacing the three pipe seals in the basement of the plating shop. Rehabilitate building facade/replace roof-optometry. The Project consists of repairs and restoration of the building envelope, repair and rehabilitation of existing roofing systems, and selected ground-floor renovations. Facade Rehabilitation - The building is constructed with a pre-war steel frame structure and exterior walls consisting of limestone, bonded brick masonry, terra cotta, granite, and related architectural elements. Existing window systems include aluminum casement windows and steel-framed double-hung windows. The facade rehabilitation work includes, masonry repair and restoration; parapet wall repairs and selective reconstruction and replacement of deteriorated limestone, terra cotta, granite, and brick masonry components, repair of cracks and deteriorated joints; cleaning, sealing, and waterproofing of facade surfaces; replacement of selected railings and balustrade; repair and restoration of terracotta cornices and associated structural support systems; and other building envelope repairs required to restore the exterior facade. Existing masonry parapets along the north and south elevations meet or exceed the current 42" code height requirement and will require varying levels of repair and selective replacement. Roof Repair and Recovery system - the repair and restoration of an existing built-up roofing (BUR) system more than twenty (20) years old experiencing deterioration and ongoing water infiltration and leaks impacting occupied interior spaces on the 18th floor. The extent of roofing work includes assembly components such as roof membrane materials, insulation, drains, flashings, waterproofing systems, and related appurtenances at the main roof above the 18th floor and on the east and west 6th floor setback (areaway) roofs and includes installing a waterproofing roof recovery system. The total roof area is 11,200 SF. The roof contains multiple penthouses, extensive mechanical equipment, dunnage, and roof-mounted structures that will require coordination and protection throughout construction. Roof access is provided through multiple stairways and rooftop access doors. Ground Floor Renovation - At grade level, the Project includes the gut renovation of an existing space for conversion into a bicycle storage room. Scope of work includes demolition of existing glass door and storefront; infill of existing glazed openings with masonry construction and finished stone to match adjacent historic conditions; restoration of the affected exterior wall to its original architectural appearance; and related interior architectural and building system.
