Description: The Illinois Department of Transportation is conducting a letting for a 1.33-mile drainage-improvement project involving the frontage-road storm sewers on Harrison Street. The work includes open-cut trenching and jacking for storm sewer installation, jacking and receiving chambers, pavement removal, backfilling, roadway reconstruction and patching, resurfacing, relocation of water main and combined sewers along Harrison Street, and jacking those utilities under I-290. The project location is Harrison Street and Bataan Drive from west of 21st Avenue to east of 1st Avenue in the Villages of Maywood and Broadview, Cook County, Illinois.

The proposed improvements include building a box sewer on Harrison Street to collect all-weather flows, replacing the existing box sewers on Treat Avenue, building a new box sewer on Florida Street, installing new auxiliary box sewers on 18th and 18th Streets, lining existing sewers on 18th Street, and building or modifying sewer junction structures. The Work generally consist of the following: constructing new box sewers of various sizes; install new sewer pipes, inlets, and manholes; building new concrete junction structures; modifying or expanding existing junction structures; lining existing pipes with a cured-in-place lining; and all work. includes 1,900 CY box sewer overexcavation, 1,900 CY box sewer subbase (overexcavation replacement) installation and preparation, 17 EA box sewer manholes, 16th St. junction structure sluice gate, 36" diameter VCP sewer installation, 1 EA concrete manhole for 27" to 48" diameter sewers with frame and cover, 60" diameter sewer pipe lining installation, 60" diameter sewer pipe lining installation, 150 LF 37" waterline relocation, 135 LF 12" waterline permanent installation, emergency firefighting water system (EFWS) work - temporary removal, 1,000 LF post-construction television inspection of newly constructed side sewers and culverts, 290 LF 10" diameter VCP culvert, OCS removal with dead end supports, OCS restoration.

The work includes but is not limited to the installation of approx. 660 LF of 8" ductile iron cement-lined water main with associated valves and fittings, temporary water main and 1 1/4” CTS PE water services with associated valves and fittings. The work also includes the installation of approx. 900 LF of 8”, 12” and 18” HDPE storm main and structures. The work will include abandonment and removal of existing water mains and storm sewers. The installation will take place on Amherst St and along the north side of the parking lot at #56 Western Avenue.
