About this conference
Join the Office of Head Start's National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching, and Learning from November 4--6, 2026, for a repeated experience of the Read, Talk, Play, Thrive: A Whole-Child Literacy Institute. Whether you joined us for the first Literacy Institute or are attending for the first time, we're excited to have you with us. We'll go deeper into literacy best practices. You'll have more time to reflect, apply what you learn, and connect with other educators. Together, we'll explore ways to support every child on their journey toward becoming a confident, lifelong learner. This in-person professional development event is for early childhood leaders who work with children birth--5. Learn more about how early literacy supports children's thinking, learning, social skills, and emotional growth. Continue exploring the Big 5 for All (Planned Language Approach) and learn new ways to build literacy through reading, writing, talking, singing, and playing.
